Morning, I have had an Inherited IRA for 9 years now, took the lifetime stretch, balance is not big but keeps growing with market returns and annual dividends reinvested, it has around 30K atm, since I received it I have always taken the max I can contribute to my Roth IRA from the inherited IRA in January, have the money sent to my bank then I send it back to Vanguard and to my Roth, satisfies the RMD and fills the Roth for that year, The Inherited IRA is invested in VG2040 target account, the Roth is invested in VTWAX, my question is since I'm 100% equities in my Roth, would it serve me better to exchange the VG2040 to say VTWAX or VTSAX since it's going to be invested in 100% equities as soon as it get's into the Roth anyways, and if I did invest it in VTWAX is there any wash sale issues selling and buying the same fund in different accounts in the same week once a year? Reason it is in VG2040 and has been is because my wife and I have VG2040 in a rollover IRA from her old employers 401k and my 401K at work is currently in it. The goal is to deplete the inherited IRA over time and get it into the my Roth and we already max the wife's Roth via regular income, we're both late 40's. Thanks for your time.
