Unlike Vanguard's stock index funds, I found that their bond index funds like VSIGX and VSBSX distributed capital gains despite having ETF classes:
VSIGX: https://fundresearch.fidelity.com/mutua ... /92206C888
VSBSX: https://fundresearch.fidelity.com/mutua ... /92206C300
Did their ETF classes (VGIT and VGSH) also distribute the same amount of capital gains?
Did those captial gains result from the fact that they had to sell a bond when its remaining maturity was shorter than the minimum maturities of the indexes they track?
If yes, is there any bond index fund which is allowed to hold all securities until maturity without incurring capital gains?
Thank you.
