Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Form 5500 for i401k, anything else?

I'm an employed W2 with a 1099 side-gig, for which I have an Individual 401k and stuff "employer" contributions in.

I understand that I have to file Form 5500 each year, when above $250K in the account.

Questions:
1.) I registered on the E-FAST website on Dept of Labor to file Form 5500, is this how most people do it? Is there a better way?

2.) We have a CPA for our personal taxes, but is my understanding that this Form 5500 requirement falls on me and it outside the purview of a typical CPA? I've seen auditors offer this service to take on plan responsibilities, at a cost.

3.) If I'm below $250K and likely hitting the threshold in a year or two, can I begin filing a Form 5500 now and annually thereafter? I just want to begin to establish a mental habit of doing this, even if it means filing for a year or two before it is "required".

4.) My 1099 side-gig is taxed as a Sole Prop and all profits flow into my personal taxes. Other than Form 5500, is there any other form or requirement that I would be aware of? I'm afraid of missing something and finding out too late. With that said, I'm pretty OCD and I'm fine DIY as long as I fully know what needs to be done!

Thank you preemptively for your time.
