Last week I submitted my federal and state returns via TurboTax. They were both accepted without a hitch. While filing away copies of the returns and documents, I noticed a typo. In 2023 I made a direct rollover from custodian A to custodian B.
No taxes were needed or reported.
Here’s the hitch.
The amount was correctly reported on form 1099-R as $4,157.
However, I mistakenly entered $44,157
in TurboTax.
There is no net difference in taxes owed.
Should I file an amended federal and state return?
Any guidance is appreciated.
